Photo of the Day: Pier C Park Photo- Steel Sphere of Fun

with 5 comments

Here is another photo of Pier C that features another kid favorite attraction, the steel sphere of fun. KIds will be able to test their balance on this feature and rely on the soft padding below should they lose their balance (especially giant kids like me).

  1. How soon until some kid loses their balance, falls face first on the steel dome, loses their front teeth that this gets pulled?

  3. This is what Dave Mello was referencing 2 City Council meetings ago. There was an article in the NY Times last weekend about a park in Brooklyn that has these domes. They are now covered as children have been burning their hands. The German company that made it is in deep doodoo. Similar problem with the slide at Pier C. Now we are on the hook for at least $40m to provide a canopy structure. The Roberts administration never had a clause forcing the architect or contractor to eat their mistakes.

Yes, but there's a bit more to it….the kid slips, falls face first on the steel dome, loses 2 front teeth, the parent sues Hoboken and the thing gets pulled and replaced with a 2 foot tall plastic slide
